S-100 HICAPSEAL

Due to increased interest in liquid-filled capsules, there has been a greater demand for liquid-filling technology, specifically for reliable sealing methods. The HICAPSEAL (S-40 and S-100) are fully automatic capsule sealing machines. The sealed hard capsule provides a tool to the industrial formulator to extend the types of products that can be filled. With the Qualicaps sealing machines, it is now possible to fill semi-solids, oils and even liquids into two-piece capsules.

The S-40 and S-100 sealing machines were designed to hermetically seal hard capsules at high speed. This sealing technology is highly respected in the industry and used around the world. The S-40 is capable of sealing 40,000 capsules/hour. By adding an additional drying cabinet (S-100), the output can be increased to 100,000 per hour.

Features of the HICAPSEAL Banding Machines include

• Gentle handling - Qualicaps sealing equipment uses the same patented three-drum rectification system that is used on Qualicaps filling equipment. The system uses minimum mechanical force and capsules are not damaged or dented during the process, nor is there damage to the print on the capsule.
• Precision - the seats of the conveyor belt automatically position the capsules in the correct location for precise, uniform sealing. Any variation in closed joined capsule length is overcome.
• Durable seal - two seals are applied to each capsule. This ensures that if there is an air bubble or unevenness in the first band it will be eliminated by the second application.
• Stable product - the tight seal applied by the HICAPSEAL reduces the transmission of gases, (ie: oxygen) into the capsule shell thus reducing the potential for oxidation and discoloration. The sealed capsule also prevents the escape of odors from inside the capsule increasing patient compliance.
• No shrinkage - the wet bands of material are dried with filtered air at room temperature. The air is blown directly onto the bands; thus, loss of moisture from the shell is reduced to a minimum.
• Product identification - colored bands can add to the visual appeal of a capsule product and increase product recognition among consumers.
• Tamper-evident - the visual band can serve as a tamper-evident characteristic, meaning that if any filled and sealed capsule that has been tampered with will have sustainable, visible damage.

Banding kits are sold by Qualicaps for both gelatin and HPMC capsules. The raw materials in the kits match the type of capsule being banded. Sealing kits can be colored which gives a very distinct look to filled capsules, improving product recognition and customer appeal.
